Thermal printers are usually used as point of sale receipt printers, and impact/dot matrix printers are usually used as kitchen printers.
WHY?
Thermal printers do not require ink or toner, which can save money over time. However, because thermal printers are heat-sensitive, they may not be as effective in hot climates. Impact printers are the better choice for high-heat environments such as kitchens.

The best interface connection for a POS printer depends on various factors including compatibility with your POS system, speed requirements, convenience, and reliability. Here are some common interface options and their characteristics:
USB (Universal Serial Bus): USB is one of the most popular interface options for POS printers. It offers fast data transfer speeds, easy installation (plug-and-play), and compatibility with most modern POS systems and computers. USB connections are reliable and widely supported.
Ethernet (LAN): Ethernet connectivity allows the POS printer to be connected directly to a local area network (LAN), enabling multiple devices to share the printer. Ethernet connections offer stable and reliable communication, making them suitable for high-volume printing environments. They are often used in larger retail or hospitality setups where multiple POS terminals are interconnected.
